Following our recent call of proposals for what the CIL fund could be spent on there have already been a number of successful grants made.
The CIL is a charge that is made by most new developments to the borough council. The parish council gets a 25% share of the fund for developments in our parish because we have an active Neighbourhood development. The Parish council can use the money (within certain limits) to spend on improvements to infrastructure within our area.
Recent successful grant applications have included;
The playing field has been approved to replace the safety fence around the swing park, the current fence – which is approximately 20 years old, is reaching the end of its life and no longer meets current safety standards. It is going to be replaced soon. This fence is important as it helps parents ensure their children are safely within a set play area.
The cricket club has also received a grant to part fund the replacement safety ball catch net, which sits between the swing park and the cricket pitch. This will soon be going up prior to the start of the cricket season.
The social club has been awarded a grant to install rooftop solar panels, and a battery on the club house. this will help the social club significantly reduce their electricity costs – which helps protect the viability of the social club going forward. The Social club has spent considerable time and money on improving the facilities in the club in recent years, such as installing improved glazing, a patio, a new kitchen, roof repairs etc.
As well as the above grants there are other proposals coming up for consideration such as from the village hall and the school so it is hoped to provide updates on these over coming weeks and months.
